AHCC Origins

Founded in 2005, the African Heritage Cultural Club of Solivita became the epicenter for African American cultural and social life in Solivita. The Club was started by a group of Solivita residents who sought to use African heritage and culture as a way to give the Club purpose, unify its members, and enhance community life at Solivita. The group recognized the importance and utility of African heritage to African Americans in their efforts to strengthen self, family and community. It was their hope and intent that the Club would serve as a beacon and catalyst in promoting knowledge and appreciation of the rich, ancient and varied culture of African people. Moreover, this knowledge could serve as a framework and foundation for thought and practices directed toward addressing issues important to its members. Subsequent Club leaders have reaffirmed this purpose and enthusiastically embraced the idea of employing African heritage as a vehicle for infusing club members with inspiration, vigor, awareness, and restoration, and contributing to their wellbeing.
